Petey

Petey came into rescue in late January/early February, 2003

  • Broken Leg
  • Petey had a broken leg when she came into rescue. When she was taken to the veterinarian for her first checkup, the vet said her leg was not healing, and that the bone could not be pinned because of the way it was broken. A second vet attempted to do surgery to install a plate, but the bone was too brittle and the plate could not be attached.

  • Full of Surprises
  • Petey was quick to show that a broken leg would not slow her down. She was put onto a high-power diet to strengthen her bones, and would be re-evaluated after 6 months to see if she would be strong enough to have surgery to straighten the bones if necessary. Almost exactly 5 weeks after this decision, Petey one day ripped off her cast, and scared her foster mom. She was immediately taken to the vet, x-rayed, and showed everyone that her leg was completely and cleanly healed! Petey will not need any surgery to correct her leg!

  • Sheer Elegance
  • Petey is such an elegant, beautiful little girl. She weighs about 10 lbs, and is about 2 years old now. She is potty-trained but still very shy. She will need a home where she can be loved and allowed to adapt slowly without being pressured.

  • Ready to Go
  • Petey is ready and available for adoption. She is spayed, up-to-date on her shots, and is potty-reliable. She is also crate-trained and walks well on a leash.
